Jennifer Lopez will be presented with the Generation Award

The cable channel announced that Jennifer Lopez will be presented with the Generation Award at this Sunday's 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

According to MTV, the award recognizes actors "whose varied contributions to film and television have made them household names."

The Bronx, New York-born actress and singer, 52, is best known for her songs "If You Had My Love", and "Let's Get Loud."

She started out as a Flygirl dancer on the sketch comedy TV series "In Living Color" in 1990.

Since then, she has appeared in movies such as "Selena,"" "The Wedding Planner", "Maid in Manhattan", "Hustlers" or "Marry Me."

The documentary "Halftime," which will be shown at the Tribeca Festival in New York on Wednesday, will give a glimpse into her life and achievements, including her Super Bowl halftime show in 2020.

MTV will air the Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED right after the Movie & TV Awards. It will be hosted by Tayshia Adam at 10 p.m.

This special pays tribute to reality TV drama and features "RuPaul's Drag Race," “Selling Sunset" and "Summer House."
